This is for our children...their children...and their children. This is for our family...this is for us!
Originally, this blog was my wife's, but I stole it since she stopped using it. So, now it will be a place for both of us to write and journal our experiences during this journey of getting healthy. For the both of us its more than just losing weight. Yes, we both want to be thin, but more importantly we want to be around for eachother and our children for a long, long time. We want t show our children that it just isn't okay to treat what He gave us so poorly...
We have stopped making excuses and are ready to face the challenge...are you?

Feel the burn...

Wow. Today I was scheduled to do a light run- about 4 or so miles. I really didn't want to run, but I read on another blog to just go for a mile and see how I feel. So I tried it. Plus, I was down to 190.4 this morning and the thought of being in the 180s was motivation. I hit the treadmill and begin my run, at a 9:40 pace...I make it a mile but then my chest, over my heart area, literally felt like it was burning with each step I would take. I have this mental thing that I hate to walk when I am running, for some reason it feels like failure.
Today, I had to walk. I kept my pace up and jacked up the incline to keep my heart rate up...The burning went away and I started running again...the burning came back...I walked some more... this happened once more before I just said 'hell with it' and kept running even with the burn. I did 4.3 miles. Pretty good since I could barely imagine finishing one this morning. Tomorrow I promised the Mrs. that I would take it easy and do the stair stepper or something to give my body some sort of break. I just googled burning pain when running, and it sounds like maybe I started going too fast without being warmed up...Hum, I'll keep that in mind on Saturday.
Typically I try to run 3-4 times per week, with my long run on Saturday and Sunday is usually a day off. Right now my long run is 6.2 miles...I also do intervals 1x per week and then cross train the other days. I had to slow down on the free weights due to a belly button issue (its gross, I wont go into details) but I am having that checked out next week.
Lunch today was Spinich Salad with veggies and 3 oz baked skinless chicken breast and a greek yogurt. Plenty of protien and it filled me up. Now, if I can just stay feeling full after dinner, I think it would help me out a lot. I really need to stop having a snack after dinner...
I was sad to see that we didn't win the giveaway on Katie's blog (runsforcookies), but happy for the person who got it! For now I will drool over one of those via Amazon.
