This is for our children...their children...and their children. This is for our family...this is for us!
Originally, this blog was my wife's, but I stole it since she stopped using it. So, now it will be a place for both of us to write and journal our experiences during this journey of getting healthy. For the both of us its more than just losing weight. Yes, we both want to be thin, but more importantly we want to be around for eachother and our children for a long, long time. We want t show our children that it just isn't okay to treat what He gave us so poorly...
We have stopped making excuses and are ready to face the challenge...are you?

Blog Stealing...

Blog, you've been stolen by me: the Mr. Why? Because when ever I start a blog of my own I can't seem to keep writing on it. Lets get down to it. Its April 18, 2012, probably about a year after the last post on here. Where are we as a family? Hum. We threw in the towel at some point last year, I don't exactly remember when but, it resulted in weight gain for everyone in the house. By January 2nd 2012 Mrs. was up to 211 and the Mr. was up to 232, but at one point up to 237 in the months before. We woke up on January 2nd and something clicked. We didn't talk about for months before hand, make a 'game plan' for how we were going to get skinny. We got up and just started doing it. We went to the gym and started the couch to 5k program. We ate better. The Mrs. was always an excellent cook and the food she started making was low calories and didn't taste like cardboard. We talked about our goals and hopes, but kept things in perspective- we weren't going to loose 20 lbs a week. We would look not only for weight loss but overall improved health for ourselves and our children.
It's April now, the Mrs. is 30 lbs down, I'm down 40. We've both had to buy new clothes since our stuff doesn't fit anymore. I ran my first 5k and finished in 27:46 about a month ago and am now training for a 10k. On the treadmill I can complete it in 1:01:46. I think thats damn good considering when I started to run I couldn't even run for 30 seconds. I do progressive runs and usually am running at a 8:30 mile for the last 1.5 miles. The Mrs. has had more difficulty with running. They have a hate-hate relationship. But she is working on it and kills the hills with speed walking.
Other things, ofcourse have been going on. We have had a couple of stays in the hospital with one of our twins, bought a house, softball season...blah, blah...We've had mixed reactions from our family. They are all happy we are getting healthy, but I think they get sick of hearing us talking about it. But this has given me good motivation because when I told some of them that I wanted to get ripped by Christmas- they actually laughed. Well...we will see, we will see...
This time, it's different. We aren't doing it just to lose weight like before. We are doing it to give our children a chance, and their children, and so on.
So be on the lookout for a re-vamped blog. I've stolen it and am going to use it to document our journey- even if its a little bit of a late start.
