This is for our children...their children...and their children. This is for our family...this is for us!
Originally, this blog was my wife's, but I stole it since she stopped using it. So, now it will be a place for both of us to write and journal our experiences during this journey of getting healthy. For the both of us its more than just losing weight. Yes, we both want to be thin, but more importantly we want to be around for eachother and our children for a long, long time. We want t show our children that it just isn't okay to treat what He gave us so poorly...
We have stopped making excuses and are ready to face the challenge...are you?

2 handfuls of Jelly Beans, 3 Peeps, Spoon Full of PB2 and a Fudge Pop

The title is what my wife just ate. I swear something took her over.  I looked over towards the pantry and see her with the Easter basket- she says "I'm ovulating!" But I swear, she looked possessed at that moment. Anyhow, she brought it over to the couch with her. I stood up and put my hand on Easter basket, calmly stating that I was doing this for her (taking the basket away)- She threatened to kill me if I took the basket away.  I wasn't about to go down for an Easter basket. It just wasn't going to happen.  I'm only 'outing' her on the blog because she posted on FB about it.
It does bring me to another topic- feeling extremely hungry lately. As I sit on the couch watching American Idol, I am trying to figure out how many calories I had today to see if that is the reason why I am feeling so hungry lately. Yesterday I ate about 1400 calories, today was 1450 calories. I ate my cold oatmeal in a pb2 bowl, protein smoothie (almond milk, 1/2 scoop protein powder, 1/2 tablespoon pd2, protein bar (Think Thin- freaking love these gluten free, 20g protein bars), a banana, 2 tangelos, protein shake, spinach salad, and chicken fajitas for dinner; that's about 180g of protein today and a far amount of fiber. I read in a book today about the importance of combining vitamin C, Caffeine and white willow bark to increase your metabolism. I'm not sure about that, but it does remind me that I should at least be taking my multivitamin everyday. Sometimes I will eat the kid's gummy vitamins because they are right there, except I am pretty sure I would need to eat at least 4 of them to get the 'adult' amount-that will cost a lot! I wonder what other supplements I should be looking into?
My weight this morning was 186.2. Based on my weight, sedentary activity level and height I need 2025 calories to maintain my weight. Generally, I work to burn 600-1000 calories at the gym. Am I screwing something up by only eating about 1400-1500 calories when I am burning anywhere from 2600-3000 (sometimes more)? I've got a lot of questions tonight.  I have been noticing more definition in my upper/lower body also- clearly I am gaining muscle. Hum.
I have been going back and forth on the point that I will switch from weight-loss mode to muscle building/body building mode. Don't get be wrong, I don't want to have EVERY muscle defined and sticking out (not that it is bad- just not what I want for my body), but I do want to be lean and truly have a 6-8 pack, instead of the mini keg I currently have.
I ran out of almond milk :( so, I'm thinking I'll have to make eggs tomorrow.  Gym tomorrow will include intervals and free weights.
Until then...
