I realized this morning that it has been a few days since my last post. Opps. Sunday we made a healthy brunch for my mom and grandma and then went over to see my Dad and Step-Mom. They also have a massive garden and were working in it. We got to talking about eating right and they invited us to try their juicer. They quickly got out every fruit and veggie in the house and we went to town. My juice was a mix of kale, orange, and strawberry; it was delicious! Jessica and Devanne each made their own and then we made the girls a strawberry banana juice- they loved it! We headed home from their around the girls' nap time and they feel asleep. One they way home we decided to have a last minute BBQ with some friends, so we stopped by WinCo for groceries.
Jessica made drumsticks- honey lime. It was soo good and at about 140 calories per drumstick, I ate two plus a large salad. I also had one frozen margarita (made my tummy hurt). Jessica had a few more than one and got pretty funny as the night went on. And then it was...
Monday. Got to the gym early because of an early work meeting. I only had about 50 minutes so I planned for a 4 mile run. I finished it in about 45 minutes which was good because I realized I was running behind. I found that I ate pretty good- until after dinner. Dinner was shrimp and black bean tortillas. I was feeling pretty hungry still, so at about 9 I had almond milk and pb2 and half a bag of popcorn. I later regretted this decision. I tend to regret eating after dinner.
Today (Tuesday) started with a planned trip to the doctor in Washington for miss Adey. This was a check of her eyes- she had them checked last year and they were only a bit bad. Lately we have been noticing she will walk up to something (a few inches away) to see it or bring a book to the tip of her nose to see it. Looks like we were on the right track because she needs glasses! Her vision is worse that Jessica's! Poor girl- no wonder she runs into things and has depth perception issues. We don't currently have vision insurance for the kids (we will in July), so we might have to wait until then because the glasses will probably be about $400! I hate to make her wait but coming up with $400 bones is damn near impossible this month. Anyhow, we made it through that appointment and then headed home for some lunch. I made a kick ass spinach onion omelet. Then we put the kids down for a nap and Jessica's sister, Kim, stayed home with them while we went to the gym. I hit the weights (arms, back, chest, legs and core), stairstepper for 30 minutes and then ran my fastest mile ever- 7:17. Last week I ran it in 7:30, so I managed to shave 13 seconds off in a week. Pretty darn good.
Jessica made light baked whole wheat macaroni and cheese and I told her under not to let me eat anything after dinner- for any reason! I need to kick my willpower into gear and get a hold of this eating after dinner thing again. I had been doing so good...but then I had something here or there and bam! I want something every night. No sir, not going to do it.
Oh, and my weight yesterday (and today) was 186. Up from my 'lowest' (on the cabbage soup diet) but down 1 pound for the week. I am starting to notice some definition in my upper body, which I am pretty excited about.
Well, it's time to put the girls down for the night! Our bed time routine- potty, baths, teeth, dressed, books, songs, prayers and then lights off. Structure is every twins' parents friend.

This is for our children...their children...and their children. This is for our family...this is for us!
Originally, this blog was my wife's, but I stole it since she stopped using it. So, now it will be a place for both of us to write and journal our experiences during this journey of getting healthy. For the both of us its more than just losing weight. Yes, we both want to be thin, but more importantly we want to be around for eachother and our children for a long, long time. We want t show our children that it just isn't okay to treat what He gave us so poorly...
We have stopped making excuses and are ready to face the challenge...are you?
