Okay, so the blog title is a little vague...and that's because there are a couple of things I am mulling over (and Jessica too). First: when is the right time to transition into more weights/bulk up? I have been reading a lot about natural body building- http://www.true-natural-bodybuilding.com/training.html- I like what this guy has to say. Not that I want to be 'extreme' but I want to be built and have functional muscle mass. I have been stalling on my weight loss maybe due to the night time snacks (even though I am consuming on average 1000 calories less than I am burning) which has got me to thinking about adding in more weights. I'm thinking I wont loose a bunch of weight with added strength training, but I bet I will see my clothes fitting differently and (hopefully) less fat around my belly, thighs and hips. Even though I did most of the major muscle groups yesterday, I thought I should get myself on a program/schedule, so today was abs and triceps. I did overhead triceps curls, cord triceps pull downs, and diamond push ups (8 reps x 3 for each) and for abs I did hands over head crunches, ab curl machine, leg lifts and one other one but I forget the name of it. I didn't have time to do any cardio so I came back later and got in 2.5 miles. Anyhow, I suppose I will try this for the next few weeks and see what happens.
Second: baby. Jessica and I have been talking about trying for another baby this fall. I know it seems a little funny to be talking about it now, but we have to do a lot of prep to even try. First we have to monitor her ovulation for a few months to see if she is actually ovulating. If she is (Yippee) we wont have to use clomid; if she isn't we have to use clomid and have a greater risk for multiples. And then we have to work with the doctors at KP to sign all the paperwork for the IUI procedure. The girls are nearly 3 and if we wait much longer the girls will be in Kindergarden, as it stands, they will be nearly 4 by the time the baby is born (if we get pregnant this year). And then we have to factor in all this hard work Jessica has been doing. She is worried she will get big again. We keep talking about how it will be important to keep up some physical activity and try to eat healthy. With the girls she only gained 20 lbs which was excellent but with our first daughter, Devanne, she gained like 70 lbs. We talked about her eating healthy with the girls too, but when it came down to it she craved things like McDonalds all the time. But overall she did eat well. We avoided gestational diabetes and massive weight gain. But she also didn't eat terrible with Devanne, so it seems it just depends on the body during that pregnancy. I guess only time will tell.
This morning my weight was 184.6! I really think this whole not eating at night thing might be the key.

This is for our children...their children...and their children. This is for our family...this is for us!
Originally, this blog was my wife's, but I stole it since she stopped using it. So, now it will be a place for both of us to write and journal our experiences during this journey of getting healthy. For the both of us its more than just losing weight. Yes, we both want to be thin, but more importantly we want to be around for eachother and our children for a long, long time. We want t show our children that it just isn't okay to treat what He gave us so poorly...
We have stopped making excuses and are ready to face the challenge...are you?
