This is for our children...their children...and their children. This is for our family...this is for us!
Originally, this blog was my wife's, but I stole it since she stopped using it. So, now it will be a place for both of us to write and journal our experiences during this journey of getting healthy. For the both of us its more than just losing weight. Yes, we both want to be thin, but more importantly we want to be around for eachother and our children for a long, long time. We want t show our children that it just isn't okay to treat what He gave us so poorly...
We have stopped making excuses and are ready to face the challenge...are you?

Get Set...Go!

Oh,Saturday! What a busy yet laid back day.

Photo: Cassey, are these the snarky looks you've been getting from Grace? (This is Jocey with the pre-surgery meds. She kept saying "I feel mean, I am angry!" and gave us these faces)...

(This is Adey on the pre-surgery meds)....
First, yesterday was the girls' surgery day. Adey came out of anaesthesia like a champ- a little more sleepy than last time but she was doing good. Next out was Jocey. We got the call that she was suppose to be coming out but then she didn't...and more time passed and she still didn't come into the recovery area. The nurse said sometimes people have throat spasms and need to go back under and have medication to relax all of their muscles. She was like "every should be fine."  "Should?" Really. And we waited. About 30 minutes later she came into recovery. She did have a throat spasm and had to be put back under and they wanted her to wake up on her own to prevent another one. It was so sad, she came out with the tube still in her throat "just in case". Poor kid.

Anyhow, we managed the rest of Friday with hanging around the house. We had friends come over and just hung out for the night. The girls were a little cranky.

This morning they woke up bright and freaking early, despite going to bed at 8pm last night. So, I was up with the kids at 6:15 am. We read books, sang songs and tried to eat breakfast before waking Jessica up to get to the gym.  I had mapped out a route to the gym. So I had Jessica drop me off about .75 miles from our house and I started my run. It was pretty flat most of the way which helped a lot. I ran 7.6 miles is 59:47 minutes.  Pretty freaking awesome! By the time I made it to the gym we had to get going, so I didn't have time for strength training. We headed back home and met my best friend and her daughter and we hung out for a bit.
Later our friends Jake and Gen came over (again, they were over last night) because Jake and I are going fishing tomorrow morning and we invited them for an adult sleep over. Not adult in that way.  Once they got here we ate our delite papa murphy's pizza. Jake and I headed to the gym to do strength training. Let me tell you, I can't believe this guy's workout- it is crazy. He was doing shoulders and arms, like a gazillion exercises for each.  I did Week 1, Day 5- shoulders, abs and calves. I found it to be a little eay. I did add in a few different exercises and I am pretty sure I am not going to be able to paddle tomorrow.
Now, I am kicking back, drinking my *fine* beer (PBR). Awe, life is good.  Thanks be to God for safe recovery for the girls and for fishing. Cuz tomorrow I'm going and I am excited!
