This is for our children...their children...and their children. This is for our family...this is for us!
Originally, this blog was my wife's, but I stole it since she stopped using it. So, now it will be a place for both of us to write and journal our experiences during this journey of getting healthy. For the both of us its more than just losing weight. Yes, we both want to be thin, but more importantly we want to be around for eachother and our children for a long, long time. We want t show our children that it just isn't okay to treat what He gave us so poorly...
We have stopped making excuses and are ready to face the challenge...are you?

Mission Slimpossible Update + Weekend Update

Let's start with the rest of the weekend. I drank waaaayyyyyy to much on Saturday night. I mean waayyy to much, like 8 beers. Apparently I was hilarious. Anyhow, I went to sleep about 2 am. I set several alarms on my phone-4 of them. But still managed to miss them. My buddy Jake woke up on time and let Jessica's brother, Sean, in who came up and woke me up. I popped up, grabbed coffee and some oatmeal and we headed out. (I had already packed lunch and all that).  We hit the lake about 6 am. Let me tell you- a canoe with 3 adult males is not very stable. Luckily we did not tip, but we were close to tipping once. I caught the only two fish of the boat, an 8 inch rainbow trout and one 10 inch rainbow trout.  My arms were KILLING me. Why on earth did I not think about my Saturday workout impacting my fishing day. Never the less I paddled, and paddled. Probably a total of about 2 hours of paddling.
Made it back home and the wife was clearly more optimistic about what I/we were going to be able to bring home...since she didn't buy a main dish for BBQ thinking we would have caught enough to feed all of us! (Thanks for the vote of confidence!)

Monday got going- it was 5 miles and then my legs. I had serious heel pain on my left side. I think, now, that it was due to my old shoes. I made it through the workout. It was intense. I remember, specifically, doing 150 leg presses.

Tuesday was chest and triceps plus 40 minutes of the stair stepper. I thought I was going to die. But, I didn't! I made it.  I also went out and bought new shoes. My heel was killing me from the day before and I really couldn't imagine running again. I think I put about 600 miles on my shoes. I found a great deal and Big 5. $100 shoes for $40. I told Jessica to go get some too.

Today- was 5 miles plus shoulders. I had the HARDEST time doing the final exercise- reverse flys. Holy crap- I was suppose to do 7 sets of 12-15. I could only do 7 sets of 9. Even when I reduced the weights. I literally could not lift my arms any more. But, the run was fantastic. I didn't even look down until 4.75 miles. My heel felt great.  Also, took Devanne to her softball game and she did really, really well. Caught a fly ball and I watched every second of the game since Jessica stayed home with the babies. It was nice to be able to focus on her.

Tomorrow? I haven't even looked. I do know for the cardio it is sprints. As for the strength training, I guess I will find out...

PS. I did not win the Mission Slimpossible money pot. I was .6% from Sean. What sucks is the fact that I worked my butt off this month and Sean did "nothing" (according to him). Erg.

  1. Great post! It's great to see that you guys are actively exercising, while trying to lose weight. One thing I’ve found to be extremely helpful and useful as a supplement to my current diet/exercise plan is Fullbar (www.fullbar.com). Not only do their products help you lose weight, they also help keep the pounds from coming back!
