This is for our children...their children...and their children. This is for our family...this is for us!
Originally, this blog was my wife's, but I stole it since she stopped using it. So, now it will be a place for both of us to write and journal our experiences during this journey of getting healthy. For the both of us its more than just losing weight. Yes, we both want to be thin, but more importantly we want to be around for eachother and our children for a long, long time. We want t show our children that it just isn't okay to treat what He gave us so poorly...
We have stopped making excuses and are ready to face the challenge...are you?

Adey's Army!

This morning was the NW Epilepsy Walk! We didn't raise the 1,000 we were hoping for, however we did raise over $700 and had over 20 people join us today! It was an incredible blessing to see other families who have had similar experiences as us. Jessica talked to one family who's daughter was 23 years old, her seizures started at age 2. She encouraged us to continue to fight for answers and be strong advocates for our little girl. Which, of course, we will do! Always.  The walk was 3 miles and went by very quickly; After we all met up at The Old Spaghetti Factor.
Jessica and I looked up the nutritional facts from the menu yesterday. I already had a game plan- eat no bread, get the whole wheat meat sauce noodles and immediately cut it in half and ask for a to-go container. I planned on eating the small scoop of ice cream served after and drinking the ice tea that comes with the meal. Jessica made a similar plan. Plan = success. I stuck to it! I consumed about 500 calories all together, which is a little more than usual but not bad at all.
Our friends, Jake and Gen are coming over for BBQ (Chicken sausage, mini potatoes and salad-except I'm not eating the potatoes). Jake is also going to bring his Insanity DVD and we are going to do a workout. I'm super excited to see just how insane this workout is. I'll report back.
Tomorrow Jessica and I are planning to do a small run and I am hoping to get to the gym to do my leg workout (suppose to be done today).  I have really been thinking about sticking to the training program from Kris Grethin. Right now I do a crap ton more cardio than he does, but I usually do it up front and I am starting to think that I should perhaps split it up. Which would mean taking an extended break when running. I probably will do 30 minutes before and 20 minutes after. It will probably screw up my endurance but my main (secret) goal, since the beginning has been to "get ripped." I'll have to mull it over. See what feels right.
